Task 1 

You are studying for a qualification, and you would like some time off work to complete it.

Write a letter to your manager. In your letter:

 

• Ask for some time off to complete a qualification.
• Suggest what you will do later at work if you have time off.
• Say how the qualification helps your job or company.

Dear Graham, 

 

First of all, thank you for taking the time to read this letter.

I need to spend some time improving my skills for our company.

For a long time, I have wanted to obtain my certification.

I can say with certainty that our company will be in a good position when I obtain the certification.

As you may know, we have found a project manager who can lead our project. 

 

Finally, I found the right qualification that we have sought after 

thus I do not want to miss this opportunity to improve my skills and our company.

Perhaps I believe our combined skillsets will be an excellent complement to the project. 

 

I assure(promise) you that I have done my due dilegence to ensure that my work will not be impacted by my leave of absence. Moreover, any additional work that might need to be completed by my part can be managed in my spare time.

 

I totally understand that my position is unchangeable.

I do not want you to have any complications.

You can connect with me at any time during my time off so that the project continues to run smoothly.

I can say with certainty that our company will be in a good position when I obtain the certification because of the increased capabilities it will provide me with that are an asset to my job.

 

As you may know, we have found a project manager who can lead our project.

Although, I believe that person is lacking some of the fundamental elements needed to fulfill their daily duties, therefore I found the right qualification that we have sought after to compensate for these inadequacies.

Surely, you can understand why I do not want to miss this opportunity to improve my skills and our company.

I believe our combined skill-sets will be an excellent complement to the project.
